Monty Python's Personal Best (http://www.pbs.org/montypython/)

For some of you youngsters here this may be your first chance to see some of the old original sketches. They're going to show all the old episodes in their entirety in April too. http://home.comcast.net/~rnick9/koolsmiley.gif

When I was in high school there were kids that could quote MP verse for verse verbatim. I think their favorite was Spam. I couldn't get into it back then but now I find MP quite funny.

I love Monty Python. Have been looking forward to the episodes coming up. Did you ever see "The Goodies"?

I don't like Monty Python at all. It's far too silly for my taste, I'm afraid.

LOL@The Black Knight

My father used to rave about it when I was little but it wasn't until college that I really knew anything about it. Now I find their stuff hilarious.

Some of that stuff is pretty funny, like the castle siege. Or the really discusting guy in the restaurant, if you have seen it you will know what I mean.

Yes, once one has viewed that scene from The Meaning of Life, it is never forgotten.

I'm not familiar with that one, or at least the name. :)

Some of my favorite sketches:

The killer joke.
The ladies club reenactment of Pearl Harbor.
The bicycle tour.

"Nobody suspects the Spanish Inquisition!!!"
Little nod to BuckarooB there.

I've never seen Monty Python before, and I have no idea why...it's on my to-do list. I just remember when they advertised the DVD for it a couple years ago nonstop.

I love their songs. "the Penis Song" and "Always look on the bright side of life," in context are my favorites.

It's one of those things that you either really get, or you just don't. Rent a DVD and see if it's something you enjoy.

Just don't watch the DVD with real fans of Monty Python; they'll keep saying all of the lines before they're said on the TV! It's an annoying habit that all fans of Monty Python seem to have (yes, including me).

"The Killer Joke" was solid. That was a well crafted and thought out skit. Like anything the Flying Circus is drops off as members leave. The first two or three seasons are pretty solid.

Python is classic. Come on, the dead parrot sketch ... the lumberjack song, the argument clinic, the death of mary queen of scots ... and of course the holy grail.

And the toys are quite good too, such as the killer bunny (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006FUEDC/qid=1140650365/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-7874525-4937750?v=glance&s=toys)

My favorite lines of all time (both from Life of Brian):

"I'm Brian of Nazareth and so is my wife!"

and

"You lucky bastard."

I've seen every Monty Python movie and episode and it pains me greatly to hear so many people completely ignore Life of Brian. I think it's brilliant.

Just the crucifixition song by Eric Idol should be enough to convince anyone that it's the best movie... Ever. Well, maybe Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is funnier but that only counts if you've done a prodigious amount of drugs in your life. Plus, it was also directed by a Monty Python cast member so I guess it's just one gigantic circle that revolves around Monty and his little circus.

I quite enjoyed the two hours of Python last night... best of Eric Idle and Graham Chapman. Good stuff. Thanks for the heads up, Kool!

Yeah, I like the United Peoples Front of Judea asking rhetorically "What have the Romans ever done for us?"

"Built bridges . . . and the aqueducts . . . public eductation . . . sewer system . . . public transportation . . . brought peace."

If you've got digital cable - they've got BBC on-demand with episodes of Flying Circus you can watch at any time. Just saw with one with Mr. Hilter and Bimmler a few weeks ago.
