Here's the place to post pictures of your pets... I'll even go first.
Over the past 5 years I have rescued 27 cats. I make sure that they get complete medical care, and once they are happy and healthy I find them homes. Sort of like a mini-shelter, only with no donations...
I have 9 cats that are my own.
Top row: Melina, Stephanie, Splash
2nd row: Sigmund, Tabitha, Tyrael
3rd row: Imrik, Kerianseray, Martell

Here's a picture of my dog Dalai Lama - (I call her Dolly, or Dolla Dolla Bill Yall) She is sitting on her chair - no one else sits on that chair, it's doll's chair and sometimes she spends the night on it!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/Trama_tized/Dalai_2.jpg
Here she is again on the chair.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/Trama_tized/Dalai.jpg
And here is my cat (who is scared of the camera I found out) hiding under a chair in our entry way... Her name is Bella (or as I like to call her Fatty LaBelle)

Puno ate some onions last night. A friend of mine was online and told me that they were poisonous to dogs and I'd need to induce vomiting. I called the pet emergency room and they confirmed; I spent a half hour forcing capfulls of hydrogen peroxide down his little throat - he was not pleased.
Here he is, post-onion-vomit-session, modelling winter's fashions from the GAP.

Here are my three cats:
http://studentpages.scad.edu/%7Ecweath20/bella.jpg
This is Bella. She's the princess of the house. She was the first cat my wife and I adopted, and we got her as a kitten in March of 2001. All she thinks about is food.
http://studentpages.scad.edu/%7Ecweath20/daphne.jpg
This is Daphne, but we usually call her Daffy. She's the den mother and watch cat. She's also the clumsiest cat I've ever seen, and the biggest chicken. We don't know how old she is, because we adopted her as an adult in December 2001, and the shelter didn't know how old she was. She's also the only lap cat of the three.
http://studentpages.scad.edu/%7Ecweath20/escher.jpg
This is Escher, named so because he is black and white. We got him as a kitten in the summer of 2004, and he's the comic relief of the bunch (we almost named him Kramer, after the character on Seinfeld). Most of the photos we have of him are blurry (like this one) because when he is awake, he never sits still.

I have two cats, Artimus (the big brown tabby) and Peaches (the little Tabico) We got them both from a vet clinic who rescued them. They are a year apart in age and we later learned that they are half brother and sister.
Artimus is big and tough, but when he wants to he'll jump on your lap and nuzzle you gladly.
Peaches is the sweetest kitten ever. At first she was afraid of me and only went to my girlfriend, now she's a flirt. She'll try to rub up against you even if you're no were near her.

Here are 3 pics of my girl Olive, after surgery. She's only 2, we got her at the pound as a puppy. She had a few episodes of "back end pain" not her butt exactly, but just kind of general area pain where she would cry. We'd take her to the vet and get pain meds, but no real resoulutoin or cause(very frustrating!). About 3 weeks ago it go so bad she wouldn't get up, and she'd just sit and cry, and yelp when you touched her.
Long story short, after lots of xrays and a CT scan, we find out that her pelvis didn't develope correctly, and her last vertebrea grew extra bone to try and stabelize her. The bone started pinching nerves and crushing discs. So they cut her open and removed a bunch of bone and put in a screw.
She's doing great now, but we have to "keep her quiet" for the next 2 months. No walks, no playing, no friends over. So she is kind of confused and sad, but still in good spirits. I bring her to work with me once or twice a week. She bums around, says hi to everyone, sleeps at my feet, general dogs stuff. We are very optimistic she'll be hiking with us again next summer.

Cute, Kittie! no pun intended!! When Othello lost his leg, the vet said he would have died if he hadn't been so fat. He lived off of his body fat for 9 days while he was lost and injured. He lost over half his body weight!
Here's one I took of him a little while ago. He's still in the same spot right now. Probably will be until this evening!!

And here's one of his sister, Mishu. She passed away about 7 yrs ago. (she had a tumor) I adopted both of them thru my sister who is a vet tech, and when they arrived, they were very sick and very small. (only 5 wks. their mom abandoned them-they were feral cats) They definitely had their quirks-once they were done with loving they let you know in no uncertain terms-deep bites, scratches. But they were very loving and both were lap cats to the max. (when they wanted to be) Right now, my sisters cat lives with us (she moved to japan) and he is way too old (and huge!) to go, so as soon as I get pics, I'll post em.

Hi again guys!! Its been a crazy month(that's why I havent been around much).. anyways, I was hoping you ALL could keep us in your prayers??.. Here's the story: On Dec 26th my wife and I were driving back to Texas from NC and we were in an auto accident on I-20 in Vicksburg, Mississippi (I rolled my SUV) We were both alright(luckily) but 1 of our 3 dogs(Daisy, pictured above) ran from the scene. She has been spotted numerous times over the past few weeks in the same area, but wont come to anyone. She, thankfully, has on her tags/collar, so it SHOULD just be a matter of time, but I would really appreciate the thoughts/prayers that Daisy is returned home safely. We miss her greatly. We have lots of people in the area trying to help since it is 6 hours from our home. We have put up TONS of flyers, the newspaper ran an article plus we ran some classified lost ads, plus the local radio did a story on us.. So we are doing everything we can think of.. our other 2 dogs have been terribly depressed since we brought them on back to TX after the wreck.. not to mention my wife's occasional outbursts of crying.. Thank you for those that pray for us. I'll update as soon as we get her back. -Aid

Thought I'd share a video of the critters. Rico (7 month pup) and Climber (17 yr old cat). Rico just wants to play ball with Climber. Climber just wants Rico to go away. I'm not sure what happened to the video when I uploaded but audio is off kilter a bit - you'll get the jist.

I had a cat once who had a balance problem. He got picked up by a chicken hawk and managed to get free, only it was in mid air. Upon landing he screwed up his balance real bad. He had to keep his head turned sideways so he could walk straight.
Here's a new pic of Othello. He has 3 legs. One of his back legs is missing.

So here is Sinister (very aptly named for his personality as he gets into everything and is pure evil). We rescued this kitten who looks black but is actually a VERY dark brown with black stripes. When we rescued him he was very sick. He had a respritory infection, ear mites, mouth ulcers and an eye infection. Now he is 7 months old and he is all cured ecept for the sneezing. After 4 months of antibiotics the vets gave up on him getting better so we are stuck with the hopes he only sneezes for the rest of his life. This is a shot of him watching the Leafs game with me.

Here is a shot of Kitty (very original name). I had this cat from the day I moved out on my own. Unfortunatly, he had an accident (he was hit by a car and survived) when he was young and we lost him due to massive kidney failure from his old war injuries in Dec. This was by far, the best cat I have ever had. He is missed dearly.

You all have such cute looking pets, I thought I'd post a couple of my own cat, Felix. (I actually hadn't even thought about the comic book when I named him)
Here he is when he was about 6 months old, he still enjoys the piano:

And here he is on a really bad hairday last winter:
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n208/hildebrand_3/felix10.jpg
He's actually a lot more like a dog, depending on the time of day. In the middle of the afternoon he'll just sleep in the sunshine like any cat, but in the evenings he likes to play fetch with his toys.:D

i think that wire hair is actually more common worldwide, smooth hair only seems to be more prevalent because they're selectively bred for pets in the US. the wire hair is the dominant gene though. we have a smooth haired ourselves, and she is nicer to pet, but the trade off is that the smooth haired terriers shed like its going out of style.

His real name is Slinky Malinky. We rescued him from the RSPCA about 9 years ago. He got the name because as we walked through the shed full of cats in cages - looking at each one - Slinky appeared to ooze out of his little hideaway to come and say hello to us at the bars of the cage. He chose us really. This pic is about 7 years old (yikes!) but it's the only one I have to hand.

Here's a few of our black lab Guinness. He's famous around here for the amount of vet calls we've made over things he's ingested over the years (*****ly shrub leaves, 38 birthday candles along with leftover frosting and cake, broken glass from a shattered glass brownie pan--although we think he avoided the glass and picked out the brownies as he was ok--, and most famously....a webbed collar of his he decided to eat whole!)
Ahhh! I got ***** ed! I was only trying to describe sharp needly shrub leaves.

no mate for her (well probably a her) yet. Pic is blurry since any time you're close to the tank she gets excited, bobs up and down really fast and thinks food is coming (nips at your fingers at the top of the tank to boot).
I also have a yellow watchman goby, but I really don't see much of him at all since he hides in the back all the time (i actually didn't see him come out for a couple of months and figured he was dead, turns out he's still very much alive and huge... go figure). I still wonder what he eats since he never eats what I give him.

It has been almost 2 yrs since I had a kitty, I thought I couldn't do it again after my 13 yr old got so sick and passed away, but last week we adopted another little guy! He's a rescue cat, about 2 yrs, they think, and he is just so cool, follows me about the house like a puppy, so hard to take pics of! I had forgotten how much joy they bring into the house. I find myself thinking of him during the day while i'm at work, I can't wait to come home and play with him! My son named him Wilson. (we watched "castaway" the previous weekend)

this is an older pic of our Gordon Setters.
http://www.dumphy.de/data/gordon.jpg
Those Gordons are beautiful:
This is Charlie. He's become more and more neurotic as he gets older, but he's a good watchdog. He howls with the town siren which goes off three times a day. Not annoying what so ever. Everybody in town thinks it's cute. Hmmmpf! He's half Cocker Spaniel and half English Setter. He looks like a puppy but he's seven. We keep him trimmed otherwise there are hairballs the size of Miami behind every door. They scare me.

He is sitting on this wicker chair in my office - he loves sitting with me while i work...tho i think the chair is fav spot #2 # one is in the corner behind my monitor on my desk....i hate that though for some reason....he also likes to come up and sit on my desk next to me, or pop up and sit on my office chair with me - if i'm schooched up in a nonergo position, he'll sneak up right behind me and lounge...lil stinker!

Introducing brothers: Tofu and Olliver. We got them on Saturday. Tofu is on the left and Olliver on the right. Olliver currently has 1 ear up and 1 ear down but that can change at times. Sometimes just to try and trick us, Tofu will do the odd ear thing and Olliver will have both ears down. They are very small at the moment - I really should snap a pic with something as a guide to their size. But this pics will have to do. I like to give them 1 piece of food so they both munch on it at the same time. It's cute seeing them tug at the same bit of vege.

glad to hear things are getting a little better between them, sometimes it can take a while.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c343/gdfmorea/cats/tell-pose.jpg
Martell has learned how to open the bifold closet doors by bumping them a few times, and then reaching under and pulling them open. Now when he gets bored or wants breakfast he will go around and open all of the closets. Every day when I get up I have to close them all again. I've even tried putting things in front of the doors so he can't open them, and he just pushes them out of the way. (I even jammed a doorstop under one, and he STILL got it open.)
He can't get the ones in the bathroom (in front of the washer/dryer) because I leave the bathroom door closed. When I get into the tub I leave the door open so I can hear what's going on (Tyrael likes to antagonize Melina sometimes) and Martell invariably comes in and opens the bathroom doors then. I have to set the hamper in front of them, because once he gets them open, he jumps up on top of the washing machine, then down behind it, where he gets stuck.
Here's a shot where he fell asleep in the groove at the bottom of the patio door, leaning up against the screen.

Virgo, that's his mousey bally, he played with it so much it came off the little fishing rod thing it was on and now I just throw it for him to chase after, I tried teaching him to fetch, but he seems intent on me getting up and throwing it for him again. oh and i meant to say that yes they are corn snakes, and its not bad if you feed them frozen mice.....if you get them as babies and raise them on frozen, then they don't care one bit, plus they don't have to chase their food, so movement doesn't really make them think of food, and the feed doesn't fight back, which could hurt the snake........... i really have no problem feeding them already dead mice....coul

I thought snails were a good thing for your tank? Don't they help keep the tank a little cleaner since they eat the algae?

Yup. When we were younger my little sister used to keep a goldfish and hardly ever cleaned it's tank.
We used to call it the creature from the black lagoon. We hardly ever saw it because you couldn't see through the water. She bought 2 snails, but they couldn't eat enough to keep up. Too little too late.
She wasn't so good with pets.
One time she knocked over a fishbowl and the fish was on the carpet. She didn't try to pick it up or anything. In her mind, as soon as the fish hit the carpet, it was already dead. She just went about trying to mop up the water. I do hope she's grown up a bit since then.

Well, unless she had fast reflexes and could get suitable water ready in a jiffy, that's kinda true. I suppose a bit of bottled water would be fine. A bowl of freshly run, untreated tap water would be really bad.
I used to work at a restaurant that had a banquet room. There was a wedding up there one night, and earlier in the day the bride's attendants brought in live goldfish for the centerpieces. They didn't bring enough water with them to divide among all the centerpieces, so they just used our tap water. By the time the reception started, all but one goldfish was belly-up.

well snails do eat algae but so do the shrimp i have in there =] the snails just annoy me since i didn't put them in the tank. they hitchhiked in on a plant i bought.
haha yea tap water isn't the best thing for fish. once you add water softener it's fine but the chlorine from the tap water will kill fish quick!

sure, they do help with that, but they will also breed so fast that they can take over the tank! As Typically said, one little snail can hitchhike back to your tank on a plant and then you're done for! ;)
I've always loved freshwater aquariums. I'd like to have one again some day. I had a blue gourami that lived for 10 years!

yea i love them to morea once i moved into my own place i got a 29 gallon tank for my bedroom. then a few months later i got another 29 for the living room. then i setup a 10 gallon tank i had laying around for living room that is a live plant tank (my favorite) about 2 months ago i got another 10 gallon to do a shrimp only tank.
the live plant tank is the most work but the most fun to watch because it's always growing and changing. next on the fish tank list is a 90+ gallon tank for my oscar that is way to large for the 29 he's in currently :)

Weird. I've only ever called them Shar Pei (not Chinese Shar Pei). Is that because I'm Chinese? Is there any other kind of Shar Pei breed meaning that the word Chinese needs to be in there to differentiate?

There is only a chinese shar pei, but the word chinese is there because thats where the breed originated from. I usually just call her a shar pei.

Hey Typically, are those fresh water puffers aggressive? I saw them at the pet store called "Pea Puffers". I love them but I wouldn't want them to eat/attack our other tropicals. Are they better in schools or alone?

yea they can be nippy. they say its best to keep them by themselves if you can. i have 2 in my 10 gallon and they get along pretty well but they have there own areas that they stay in for the most part. i have 2 other fish in the tank too but they are pretty quick and i keep the puffers well feed so they don't really bother them much.
very cool fish though! really fun to watch and they kind of have personality to them if that's possible =]

smokey is a fan of the new tank =] i only have 3 fish in the tank now a female convict, a rhino pleco, and a raphael catfish. i'm going to try to get down to the fish store later on this week or maybe the weekend to pick up a couple more fish.
