Hi I want to change a photograph of someone's face into lots of small dots of varying size and colour. is there a program that can do this or perhaps a plug in. please help:p

Not sure exactly what you're after, but have you tried the "Color Halftone" filter in Photoshop (under Filters=>Pixelate=>Color Halftone)?

Kind of like Pop Art.....I'm hoping to lazer the dots into a piece of plastic and then they'll represent the face . yeah have looked at that filter, I find it's not as accurate as I wanted, but I may have to use a different photo. thanks!

What file formats does your laser software accept. Some laser control software does the conversion automatically. If it isn't your laser, talk to the tech who preps the files for it.

Try Rasterbator, free software. Turns your image into rasterized, scalable vector-dots. Go crazy in Illustrator afterwards.

I was just going to suggest rasterbator as well. Also great to plaster a wall with a giant image. We've played tricks on our boss with this.
