I bookmarked the contest site a while back, and just decided to take a look. Looks like it is over, what do you guys think of the finalists? Not as great as the winners of the Resident Evil movie poster contest imo. I'd choose the first or second one to win...

The only one I like is on the far right. When I first heard about this I felt compelled to enter but never did. Hmm.
wow they are all really average, they don't look very original at all.

When will Hollywood learn that the only good game-to-movie was Tron.
That's it, never again.

Pretty generic posters, not quite my thing though.
Not to totally threadjack, buuuutt...just saw a post for the photography guys, Nokia has a competition for best camera phone picture. You can win a camera phone and time spent with pro photographers. I'm sure it would be interesting to meet with a few of em on the list :P (watch out, lots of flash ahead, tried to find a more direct link to prizes but couldn't :( )

That's it, never again.WRONG. Super Mario Bros was an excellent movie. Why John Leguizamo didn't win an award for his acting "skills" in that timeless classic is beyond me. Double Dragon was good too, so was Street Fighter...those were like the "Gone with the Wind"s of video games.
In all seriousness, hopefully this movie doesn't stink it up. I think Radha Mitchell is pretty damn impressive. Unfortunately, some of those posters are reminding me of craptacular "horror" movies like the Ring, Grudge, Dark Water etc. (except the one reminds me of 28 Days Later, which is pretty cool).

:D
Awesome about SMB. Leguizamo is one of my heroes.
I agree on Dark Water being craptacular. Such a wasted 90 minutes of my life. Haven't seen Grudge and probably won't now since I see that association.

Dark Water had Jennifer Connelly, and that was the ONLY thing it had going for it.

As I remember the rules, professionals were not allowed to participate. So do not judge severely.

yeah right, they are going to ask every person: "hey are you a professional designer", "yes? well im sorry we can't accept the work you have just submitted, you have just wasted your time" :D
However i doubt any serious designer would have dedicated much time to this competition. :D

I think, they could accept, but couldn't reward.
A serious designer do not need to dedicate much time to such a competition (dozens of minutes will be enough) as he/she is a serious designer and gets a clue faster :-)

Professionals weren't allowed to participate?
Darn funny way to sell your movie. But look at all the free work they got. And if I remember the rules correctly, everyone signed away their ownership rights by submitting it too. No pro would go for that either. So you didn't win the movie poster contest, but when the sell the DVD and use your art inside, you also get nothing.
