Hi all
I am new here. Just posted because I want to learn the programs and a friend suggested I go out and buy an all in one book (Dummies makes one for CS2, 6 books in one) to get my feet wet. I just want to learn basics and then eventually I can then buy the books individually, only if I have to and need more info, but anyone have either the Dummies all in one book or the Creative Suite 2 Bible?
Thanks.

Thanks so much..... 38 views of my post and not one person replies? :( I will figure this out on my own. Unfortunately, Amazon.com, which I use alot when reviewing a book or a product, does not have much feedback on the 3 popular all in one books available now.
So much for asking for help from Graphic Designers.

aww dont get grumpy - People haven't answered your question because we dont know, if we had the answer, or an opinion, believe me you'd hear about it - I think an all in one would be pretty overwhelming for just trying to get your feet wet, but I guess that's up to you to find out - all I can say is if they were great, we would have had an answer for you - good luck!

Maybe the 38 views were all by people that were not able to recommend one way or the other because they haven't used one of those books themselves.
Maybe the 38 views (out of 2000+ members) all were wondering the same as you and were looking to see if there were any responses.
So much for making friends on GDF.

actually, the 38 views could have been by:
(a) guests who are not registered to post on the forum
(b) you, checking to see if people had responded
(c) people who didn't have experience with these books. (< that's the category I fall into)
He have a list of recommended books in our frequently discussed topics thread, and these are not among them. Take that for what its worth.

Despite the rude comment, even though I've never heard of or seen those books, I've always had good luck with the Visual Quickstart series.

So, I'm guessing since we didn't respond quick enough he went away. Bummer, I almost feel bad that I have to get some work done and can't always drop everything to respond ... almost.

I wouldn't buy such an involved book if you are just looking to get your feet wet. You might want to look into books about patience and social skills though.

I don't know about those all in one books. I pretty much have 2 policies when it comes to buying books: don't buy any 'for Dummies' books, and don't buy anything by Shamms Mortier.
