You could also try Corbis at http://pro.corbis.com/. Useful, if a bit pricey sometimes.
The other method is to Google for something that takes your fancy, and then perhaps to try and take your own photos to produce the same effect.

He said 'micropayment' not 'line Bill Gates' pockets'. LOL. Corbis is very pricey.
But sometimes you can't find that image anywhere else.
Check out the Resources thread. Plenty of sites listed there somewhere. Unless they've all been bought.

If you're Bill Gates then Corbis is micropayment. :p
Hi Twogun. Yep my base is Herne Bay, although I also work elsewhere quite a lot. The wonders of the internet and re-routable phones means I can be pretty much anywhere in the UK or Europe.
It's a shame my budget doesn't allow me to work from a deck chair in the South of France, though...

We use photos.com almost exclusively. For the price of one or one and a half photos from Corbis, you get a year's subscription. You can download I think up to 50 images a day at no extra cost, unless you need a fairly large photo (like 11x14 @ 300 dpi). The collection is pretty big, I generally don't have trouble finding what I need unless it's really specific or obscure.
edit: And it's all totally royalty-free and professionally shot (no so-so amateur submissions).

11" x 14" and "fairly large" don't belong in the same sentence. LOL!

Well, faily large for the average-sized project. We don't get too many calls for the grande stuff.... ;)
