Would you use a supplier who provided trade low cost but commercial high standard custom artwork for you to incorperate into your designs/projects (be it a character, object, background scenery, anything) so to add dyamics and give you the chance to raise your quote?
I ask this because I know there are many fanastic designers who aren't necessarily great illustrators and their great design gets lumbered with standard clip art where a service may be able to provide an amazing eye catching character that your customer would love and it would enhance the rest of your design. Would you use this service if it was low priced and upped your own profit?

yah I'd hire an illustrator of the desired style...pretty much how I'd work...oh and usually I'd use someone I know personally, or from an online friendship
see its a circle of trust concept...kinda like that movie...with Deniro

Basically it's called hiring an illustrator.
Low price isn't the indicator I use to hire one though.
I prefer someone with a proven track record of following thru on comps, following a delivery schedule, high-end on the craftsmanship scale, ability to follow change notes and has the style I need - rather than worrying about low cost. There are plenty of illustrator 'stables' out there already though. And many individuals out on their own.
If you are talking about the 'Logoworks' or 'eLance' of illustration then definitely NOT.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. In regards to PrintDrivers comments I would just like to say we are a high quality illustration studio but since my partners and I use to work in the sign making industry we felt it would be a good move to offer trade price to specific customers we would supply over and over. Obviously prices between different trades would differ marginally since the sign trade quite often uses more basic designs, such as outlined characters only to accompany a sign but a web designer or advert designer would require artwork with more depth and creativity and so pending each contract the price would fit accordingly. Our main aim is gather a number of clients who would use us continuously and in return we would offer the highest quality for reasonable prices.
As you can guess this is what our business does and the question on this thread was put forward to get feedback on what we can expect ahead. I don't know if it is allowed to give out web addresses so I won't since I value being a member here and like to use this site for industry discussions
Best regards
Scott

Hi, just to claify, is it okay to put a web link on your signature, because I don't need to peddle for business here, I just appreciate the chance to talk to others in the trade
Many thanks

Just a link. No pricing or ad verbage.
i think i would hire an illustrator, if i was in a rush, mainly because i have to do lots of drafts to get my illustrations correct. I should probably practice more.
I would definitely hire an illustrator 'cause I suck at it. But, each project is unique -- and so is every illustrator. I think being extremely versatile would be really important here. But is that possible?

"I think being extremely versatile would be really important here" EC
I think a good illustrator, well one who wants to get alot of work, should be able to adapt to any style, I can't see why that wouldn't be easy. It is good for a illustrator to have a unique 'style', a stamp of their own that people regonise as their work straight away but if you can only work in this style then you very much limit what you can offer
