oh ryan, there isn't just one type of music from the 80's...you're discounting 1000's of great tunes that you may never have heard because of when they were made?

:(

i like LOTS of different tunes & styles, but the ska started in the 60's and is still going today. you don't like ANY jazz? no house from the 80s? punk? r&b?

c'mon! whose close to ryan? someone go over there and throw a ghetto blaster at him for me! ;)

I'm kind of with uncle...60's-80's produced some awesome music. Otherwise half the artists today wouldn't be sampling it or ripping it off....lol.

Though unc, I'm not a big jazz fan at all. No appeal to me. Neither does blues...punk, r&b, hip hop....as my g/f pointed out, most of my music styles include the word 'rock' in the genre title.

I was probably exaggerating... At the moment it is over 700 songs, almost 2 days of music, 3+ gb.

I do like some older music. Mostly the rock. I actually listen to some of my dad's CD's once in a while (Steve Miller Band, John Fogerty, etc.). But most of the stuff that the '80's, 90's, today' stations play from the 80's I can't stand.

Unk.. what do you usually listen to at the gym?

I have my trusty iPod (I love my little iPod, I wanna hug it and kiss it).

I have a great mixture of usually HARD stuff. Stuff you can work out too. A lot of Def Lep (of course), AC/DC, Metallica, the Crue, A ton of WWE theme Music (HHH the Game is awesome to pump iron to), Guns and Roses, Velvet Revolver (that's new), Van Halen and a mixture of newer stuff like POD, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Drowning Pool, etc.

problem is that it's a martial arts gym, so we have a limited selection. and if anyone DOES bring something in, it has to be appropriate for little ears. so, we pretty much stick to top40 dance, i guess. i'm sick to death of running to 'i like the waaaaay you moooove' dah dah dah..... but that's the type of stuff that gets people moving and bouncing. can't have anything to 'heavy', as there's a lot of contact anyways, so keeping energy up and aggression down (for the noobs, anyways) is always a good afterthought.

i took karate at the age of 14 (it never stuck, though) and the song of the day was 'oops upside the head'.... sometimes not too funny.... who did that atrocity? was it black box?
