3.2+ megapixel cellphones are on the way and it looks like they may begin to replace consumer and maybe even prosumer digital cameras. Will any of you guys be giving up your cams and going the cellphography route? My current cam is a 3.2 mpixel so I'm thinking about it depending on the quality these new cellphone cams..

Oh heck. Cram everything into that little pocket device. Camera, paher, Instant messaging, GPS unit, Personal organiser, Mp3 player, portable hard drive, gameboy, mini digitizing tablet and oh yeah - cell phone.

I'm not buying one till they have ALL of that AND flexible screens and a leather back so i can stash cash it it and stuff it in my back pocket.

And it had better be under $150 with free roaming charges.

LMAO @ Key!

No I don't think any serious photographers are going to ditch there cams for a cellcam.

I'm not worried bout the serious photographers, just the designers who send me an image they 'captured' on their cellphone for me to print.
Oh, man!
Can't wait. Can't wait.

Would you really want to talk on your wallet phone after its been in your pocket all day?

Things to ponder...

I've seen several cell phone pics and I am not impressed. If I decide to toss my real camera, it will be only be on all the conditions listed by Keyare.

But that day will come. Micro and nano technology 10 years ago were things that were written about in 'Popular Science'. Now we have it, and it's feasible in 10 years that key's prediction will be right. At one point you'll have a built in micro chip that can do all of that, plus some kind of thing in your eye that has all of your pertinent info like health, driver's license, debit, etc. etc.

Scary, but we're getting there.

Off-topic, random babble... I know a lot of people wouldn't like being 'on the grid' in such a direct manner as having a microchip in their brain, but I'm not sure I would mind that. I've often wished I could catalogue my memories and do a SEARCH using certain keywords. If the microchip gave me that feature, I would definitely consider it.
