I have a Viewsonic G90fb CRT. Its worked great for years and been really true to digital prints. Now that Ive moved for the 9th time its finally givign out ont he refresh rate. I would like to get a nice, affordable LCD that will do the same job and be a bit bigger. This one is cheap at costco:

Any recommendations?

the dell is a great monitor. I have dual 20" versions of the same monitor at work, they are great. Dell monitors are (in my opinion of course) a big bang for the buck.

is that aspect ratio weird for a desktop? is it broadly compatible with AST cards? I have a 9700.
Any opinions about the viewsonics?
everyone here must think i'm a LACIE salesman.

Hate me? I wish they were on my desk at home. I have to admit though, the boss stepped up. He realized I had one of the oldest computers in the shop (keep in mind I do 95% of the design work including large vehicle wraps), so he gave me I budget to build a new one. Luckily I was able to squizze out a pretty dang good system.

I've got the Dell ultrasharp 24" 2405 as well. IT's a beauty of a monitor for the price. My only problem with the monitor is tha brightness is a little too much but can be adjusted. I put my brightness level all the way down.
I've only printed things on my photo printer at home and the colours are fairly close. I haven't printed anything lately for a personal freelance job as I've steered away from GD temporarily but It would be safe to say that you would need to calibrate this monitor a bit, as with any LCD.

I have the VA912b, and so far I have nothing to complain about it.

Sounds like the Dell is a good idea, however im hestitant after dealing with a PERFECT viewsonic for years. The image is so stable, the color is perfect. How high does the refresh go on the Dell? I wonder where i can see one of these in person in the bay area.
Thanks all.
