Does anyone know of a filter to make a soft shadow in Quark 4?

Hmm, use photoshop and import the image? Or are you talking about a text filter of some sort?

I want to be able to do it in Quark. cause sometime the object is in front of many objects and i don't want to bring everything into Photoshop.
maybe there is an extension that can do it - I know there is for Quark 6 cuz they sent me an email with an upgrade/bundle offer - but from Quark 3, 4 or 5 by itself, I don't think you can.
If it wasn't for the last minute nothing would ever get done.

You can't even feather a clipping path in Quark 3, 4,or 5. Nor can you do fuzzy drop shadows. Can you do that in Q6 - LTG was that offer for Xtensions for Free or did you have to pay? Just curious how frantic Quark is to keep up with InD.
I haven't seen any 3rd party plug-ins for fuzzy drop shadows (did you check out Shadowcaster? I don't know if it will do what you want and it isn't free.) but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Have you tried www.thepowerco.com? Or www.gluon.com? or www.thepowerxchange.com? or www.alap.com? or...?

PD it was ShadowCaster they were selling - Quark was charging $50 for it - from alap it's $99
http://www.alap.com/products/shdw3.html link for the ShadowCaster program - actually on the website it says it's for 4.1 and later
Still had the email -
'Order your QuarkXPress 6 upgrade today and get a great price on ShadowCaster 3.2!
************************************************** **********
'Purchase ShadowCaster 3.2 and an upgrade to QuarkXPress 6 for only $249 when you upgrade from version 5, SRP $298.99 ($349 from version 4, SRP $398.99; $549 from version 3, $SRP 598.99).
This special offer is good for upgrades to QuarkXPress 6 only. The standard retail price of upgrading to QuarkXPress 6 from version 5 is $199, upgrading from version 4 is $299, and upgrading from version 3 is $499.'

Quark should give it away.
'Buy our Quark. Oh and by the way you can also buy these Xtensions that should be in the overpriced program you're buying cuz you love Quark. Don't believe all those people switching to InDesign. You can get less for more with QuarkXPress.'
(No, I'm not bitter. I WAS a great program in its day.)

LMAO!!! Yea go with Indesign.
As a matter of fact they used to do drop shadows airbrushed in the days before they used computers so makeing it in Photoshop should be looked as a gift.
