Hi there everyone. In my past experience (I have had to do graphic design for work, although I've really never had any training), I have used Quark and the images we used were eps. I am now at a new job and I am using Quark, but when I save an image as an eps it is blury on the print-out. Actually no matter what format I save it in, it is blury. (If I save the page as an eps, then it prints clear) Here's what I did.... There is a logo I need to use. Got a file with it in different colors on one illustrator page. I copied the one I wanted off that page and pasted it on a new page by itself. Then I resaved it as an eps. I also tried exporting into other formats. Nothing I do results in a logo that prints clearly from Quark. Can anyone help??? I am using Quark Xpress on a Windows platform. Thanks a ton to anyone who knows. It may be very simple, but it's got me stumped!

Sounds like the resolution isn't high enough. If you're using a vector image, make sure your Raster Effect settings in Illustrator are set to 300 dpi not 72 dpi. If it's a raster image, use photoshop to see what the resolution is.

I bet your using a non post script printer. Quark, for some reason known only to them, will only print clearly with a PS printer. Try printing to a PDF and if the images are clear then that's your problem.

Ignore the image quality you see on the screen when your looking at an image in Quark. It has the worst preview. Best bet is to open the images seperate in photoshop and look at it 100%, if they look fine, then when you print it out using quark it will look fine, that is if you didnt enlarge the images.

I have found that when I print to pdf it does print out just fine and I do use a non post script printer so that must be it. That is very frustrating. This particular project, when I print to pdf the logo prints fine, but the photo then prints very light. I am having a heck of a time printing out an accurate proof!

You can use a .tif as an fpo (for placement only) to print your hard copy. Those will print clearly on a non-postscript printer.
