Hey,

I’m curious to know how do you print a professional looking gradient blend in illustrator?
Is there a special technique?

My gradient blends never look to good after print, and I do have my blend options set to smooth.

Thanks

I bet it has more to do how the file is saved. If it's an eps, make sure the gradients are set to a higher setting.

there is a formula for this as discussed here: on the second page provided by Vikia.

Damn, that's a great way to do it.. I usually avoid gradients altogether because of printing problems and they're so not in style. I always overprinted in either another color or black, but that could backfire if the registration was off even a smidgen.. I wonder how on earth you'd do the noise thing in indesign or illustrator - just raster it out at the intended DPI? Thanks guys.. learn something new every day.

Ok, and maybe I'm wrong so if anyone else knows please contribute,
but what I do is first go to Effect/Document Raster Effect Settings..
Bump up the Resolution to High.
Then I go to Tranparency Flattener Settings and put it on high res.
Select all and flatten transparencies.

I don't know if any of that actually helps, but I have made it almost my routine.

However the main part I have learned can cause problems is when you save it as an eps.
there is a box that states "compatible gradient and gradient mesh printing" That can cause problems as well. The previous info was to help set the gradient into a higher res.
