Is it just my imagination or are college admissions essay questions deliberatly formulated to to produce boring, stereotypical answers?

And they are all the same too.... How will (insert ANY random school) help you acheive your career goals?
Last I checked, formal education of any kind was usually beneficial.....

I'm tempted to go the blunt/sarcastic route.... Something along the lines of "all factors considered, I felt that you were the school most deserving of my tuition money...." I'm afraid they might take it the wrong way though... At least getting my application thrown out for being too weird is better than getting it thrown out for being the same as all of the other ones.

ya. college admission essays are stupid. think of it as a personal test. they are testing your bs skills. how well can you kiss their butt, and tell them exactly what they want to hear...

Or maybe you could write what you expect of THEM in relation to gaining your career goals. Something like you expect that the education you receive will prepare you for a career in GD, that you will learn all pertinent artistic, production, business and legal skills to become a successful GD in the competitive world out there.

That would be different...

I just wrote what I knew they wanted to hear. The admissions guy asked if I would mind if he showed it to his colleages, he was so impressed. I should post it up--I wrote it in about 30 minutes the night before my entrance interview. Sadly, the essay was just a formality, my school will take anyone whose checks don't bounce.
