I reformatted earlier this week so I've been reinstalling everything...so my question...
Didn't Apple used to provide an option to install QuickTime without the iTunes bundle?
I didn't see it this time around...
And now I'm pissed.
Love Apple...hate QuickTime and iTunes. But it's hard to function without Quicktime...
Sigh.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just kind of curious what you hate about QuickTime and iTunes.

Oh my god...I just opened QuickTime.
Ads all over the place, and now it greys out the "pro" options to show users what they're missing out on by not purchasing QuickTime pro - advanced features such as FULL SCREEN! I guess I hadn't updated Quicktime in a while prior to my reformat.
One step closer to M$! WTG Apple.

Well, the ads I can't help you, but are you on a Mac? If so, check here http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19158 for full srceen capability (there are other options on the site as well if you search around.)

Okay, this could get into a big brawl, but I'm curious, do you feel Microsoft is any less proprietary with its WMV and WMA files?
And what incompatibility are you talking about?

The fact that I don't want iTunes - I shouldn't have to install it and uninstall it if I don't want it, but need Quicktime.
I use both mac and pc - mainly PC right now until I get my macbook in a couple months. While I'm on the PC I much rather prefer WinAmp and ID3-Tagit for my music management...I rip all of the CDs I purchase onto my computer, so I don't really have the desire to download music using iTunes.
Both Microsoft and Apple's proprietary products don't bug me. What I'm complaining about is the fact that I used to be able to download Quicktime, without installing iTunes, and it came ad-free without promoting buying QuickTime pro on every damn menu.
Taking sides is on apple vs microsoft is pointless - they're both run by satan incorporated.

How about, don't use either. Download VLC or Mplayer. Or go check out olderversions of quicktime.

I'll give you that. Yes, Quicktime used to be a separate install. But as mentioned above, there are alternatives to Apple and Microsoft that do similar things.
just googled quicktime standalone installer and apple provide this.
