Hi all
We just yesterday afternoon got Max a new playmate. Darci has been allergic to cats most of her life and finding Max a year ago was a miracle. Darci had no reaction to Max. And most of yesteday was ok until last night. Now this new little guy has got her so stuffed up and runny-eyed, we're trying to think of anything short of shots to keep the little guy.
He and Max had a short first confrontaion as we try the room rotation and let them get used to each others smell. And Darci was holding the kitten when he went into his hissing fit so she got spit on and scratched.
I shampoo'd the kitten last night but he's got Darci all stuffed up again this morning. I've been a cat guy my shole life, so I'm not affedted.
Morea, Neuro, Anybody got any cat allergy miracles? I know there's a lot of cat people here.

do you have any kind of an air filter or anything? I have a small one for my living room as well as a vacuum cleaner with a built in HEPA filter.
Does your wife have a prescription medication for allergies? Sometimes Flonase or a similar medication can be very effective in treating pet allergies.

I have the same, Rick. It takes a while before it hits but when it does boy, it's ridiculous. But it isn't all bad. Being a bachelor, and since MANY women seem to have cats, it was kind of a built-in excuse for going home..........uh.........later on.

Thanks, Morea! Good stuff.
I knew, if you were online and your dsl was back, you'd jump in.
The funny thing is that when we went and looked and brought the kitten home, she had no reaction. It was only when he hiss and went up her shoulder during the first confrontation with Max and that after being in the house for 5 hours or so.
I have an ongoing prescription for a Flonase type of spray, Nasacort, for my sinusitis. She also uses an inhaler for the rare asthma flare-up. We have a HEPA room filter in the living room and a HEPA vacuum and she cleans the house twice a week (I know, she likes the house tidy)!
Unfortunately, I think Darci has made the tough decision that we better take him back. It's still early in the season and she'll talk to our vet tomorrow so she can be ahead of the game when we do get the next kitten. She really doesn't need any more shots right now, at the onset of her diabetes. That Allerpet stuff looks good but don't if it works after the fact/
Again, thanks for your help!
