morning all, its been a fun weekend, though it sucks to be back to work so soon. Another 50 hour week for me.
in anycase this weekend was pretty good, on Friday we had a lowkey bachelor party for a friend of ours at giggles comedy club in saugus masss. Kevin Knox was the main comedian and let me just say..HILARIOUS!
Saturday was what I call a 'me' day, you know a day where you do whatever you want, no obligations to anyone. So I grabbed a decent digitial camera at staples, for the hot import nights show next week. I also went out that night with some friends...where we went has completely slipped my mind.
Sunday, well church, and then sushi (delicious) and then we saw 'The Sentinel' Michael Douglas in his classic role, I loved it.

Saturday: Cleaned room, sent out resumes. Went out for a few drinks...I miss partying.
Sunday: Bought Brain Age and Tetris for the DS. Went driving golf balls with my dad at the local driving range (GORGEOUS view, what with the rolling hills and the Mississippi). I have definitely gotten stronger, because I managed to launch the "head" off the 5 iron I was using after I hit one of the balls head on...didn't drag the dirt or nothing, and it flew forward about 100 feet. It was friggin' cool. And finally graduated from the stone age and got some IM's.
Plan on seeing Silent Hill tonight after my workout. It looks pretty good, maybe a video game to movie that won't actually suck.

Well, I took Jafo to the ER friday night. He slipped a vertebre in his back, Saturday we hung out, ran around and then got stinkin drunk with half the neighbors and raised hell lighting off fireworks and watching the race outside on a tv on the trunk of a buddy's car. Sunday we did laundry and went mushroom hunting (who knew penises grew wild...).

Oh, and Jafo threw away a bunch of my tapes on accident and I had to go dumpster diving and the landlord was "helping" me by staring at my rump and he found a bunch of porno boxes in the dumpster and made me retrieve them "while I was in there" but they were empty. I told him he could come over and watch mine. I think he had a small heart attack. He's like 300 yrs old. :D

Saturday morning I walked in a local relay for life. I was up at 4:00 in the morning to walk the last shift for our group. Walked about 15 miles. Got lost on my way there so I didn't get there until 6:00 which really sucked because I could have slept an extra hour if I wasn't going to get there until then! Then, I went home, changed and began my work on an investment property I am flipping. I painted the remainder of my weekend besides sleep time. I'm sad that's it's Monday, but kind of glad to just be sitting at my desk! One cup of coffee did not do it for me this morning, but I was too lazy to get up and refill.

My weekend:
Saturday:
Worked. Went to a friend's house for dinner, watched "Spaced", Laughed a lot. Got waay too much beer in me. Went home, crashed.
Sunday:
Went to our weekly Comicon Planning meeting. Volunteered to revamp the con's branding for next year. That'll be interesting. A friend of mine gave me some anime movies to watch at the meeting, since i've never watched anime before, so i watched a couple of those last night with the wife.

over the next four weeks I'm working late hours in prep for our trade show in new york.
essentially it is about 50 hours a week. Right now I'm wishing I was hourly, but since I'm salary i equate it to working for free. all this is going in my mental bank of resolve when I ask for a 10-15% increase in october. I'll be outright with them, without said increase I won't gaurantee staying more than the 1 year here...as is I'm getting paid WAY under market value, but the job experience is huge.

I remember you talking about that, so that makes sense, sort of. I hate how salaried people get stiffed, unless said salaried person gets a 400 million dollar bonus for increase profits in the oil business, then that person deserves mandatory castration.
Oh, and wanna send me some o' that experience! Yeah, I'm getting "some" now, but it's pretty minimal and about as basic as you can get. I've "designed" two gift cards, which on one I had ZERO instructions (I had to find out where this place was for contact info for crying out loud) and another which they've dictated the fonts to use for their logo type, the colors, the layout and etc, and when I do just that they don't like it (BTW, their "design" is shit). Oh yeah, our gift card printers are horrible. I would love to work with different ones. All the while I'm still taking support calls for our software...very conducive to coming up with ideas, what with the constant interruption.

Two years ago I got as far as a second interview at a local copy shop that evidently has a high turnover rate and is an overall shitty place to work, and I got beat by someone still in school who had an internship. I got passed over by John Deere for design intern because of "networking"...an older classmate that didn't like me for some reason tore me apart to an insider at the design department, and I lost it as a junior to a freshman; what pisses me off about that is I actually got along with the hiring manager for the few phone calls I had, until that all happened and then the other person was hired almost instantly. I was stocking shelves though...if any of you recall, that was fun.
