I recently started revising an already exisiting project when I found a layer called Blockout which contains white behind some of the objects. The project is to be printed on a clear plastic bag. I was not sure what the purpose of this was and what was ment by Blockout? I would appreciate any help you have to offer.

Thank You

i think it is suppost to be a White Underlay, however it doesn't sound like they set it up correctly. it shouldn't be on a hidden layer, and it shouldn't be white; it should be a different color that is referenced in the file that it is white and it should also be set apart from the other colors with registration marks.

water based inks are translucent... so in order to make an opaque color on a clear bag you would need to lay down some opaque white ink (non-water based) behind the color.

Was the project originally set up for clear plastic bags?
If the file is multi-purpose, the last person to use it may have made the white invisible or non-printing for some reason.
