Illy CS 2 Color Change Problems

Okay, Here's the deal. I have to "try" and match a somewhat specific Black. So in illustrator, I made a box. 30/30/30/100 color. Copy and move and up it to 40/40/40/100. You get the picture. However, I was changing color by double clicking in the color on the tool window. And it stopped changing the color around 50s. I can however, change it via the "color" window.

So, my question, how come I'm running into a problem with the color via the color box? I just trashed prefs yesterday.

hey carter - must be an illustrator bug or a limit in saturation with a rich black, because i was able to duplicate what you are getting, however, if you double click on the fill in the tool pallet, and set your cmy at 60% and k at 0%, the cmy will hold, if you double click again and leave the cmy at 60% put in the 100% in the k and it will hold. PITA tho - easier just to use the color palette ;)
