Seems like summer time brings a lot of club/event work for me, and actually It's probably the graphic work I enjoy doing the most besides of course when I work on personal stuff. So here's another flyer for another EDM event in Houston. The client wanted something airy and light but not TOO girly. This is probably the fyer I am most satisfied with so I wanted to share it with ya'll.
In the first proof I had added some rainbows, which i personally thought gave it that extra "umpghhh". But the client asked me to remove it, because it was a little too girly. So I included the finished version without the rainbows on it as well. What do you guys think? Which one do you like better?!
Thanks on the input :)

Jesus, Ally, your work is awesome. I can't think of anything wrong with the original with the rainbows. I think they definitely help, more than hurt. I don't get a "girly" impression at all.

Looks real nice, nice colours... I personally think that the rainbows area little bit too much.
Curious to know a little bit more about your process.

Very nice! I prefer the first design (sans-rainbows). I thought the rainbows did give it a bit of a juvenile touch. You nailed the "light and airy" though. I love the subtle collage in the background. Pulls you in.

ah damnit!! can't get the back of the flyer to show up the right/same size as the front of the flyer for you guys....oh well!
appreciate the quick feedback, and its satisfying to hear you like my work reuber :)
Eraser, as far as my process, it really is very random. Usually, the events that I do flyers for don't have a "name" persay, like this one. Usually it's just the name of the dj/headliner that takes the place of the title. I either take a listen to their music, or if there's a name to the event like this one, I take a "feel" from that. Lately, I'm getting into trying to learn how to make awesome titles for these flyers...so I'm experimenting more with typography. And thats what I do first, design the title. From there, I just take it as it goes.. Sorry, but I don't really feel I have a solid process :/
So maybe my client was right...the rainbows were a bit too much. I just couldn't help it!!

I've done some flyer design too and my process is a lot like yours ally. figure out the title and let everything trickle down from there. 90% of the battle is just cramming all the info on the back and keeping it looking somewhat organized.
and very nice flyer btw.
thanks emmerse, and i completely agree! half the battle is making everything fit on there nicely. this particular one, had a lot of info...but i jaaammmmed it all in there.
