Doing my boyfriend's friend a favor and hooking him up with some biz cards (he's going to trade out some work for them), so they don't have to be the end all, but any suggestions would be appreciated! He just wants his "co" name and his phone number, not much else. He said he'd be happy with he basic white card w/ black text but I just can't do that. LOL! Thanks!
edited to say - the black border around the image is just the bleed area, it wont be printed. just there for my eye.
hope you don't mind:

You need to sort out the alignment of the type, and i suggest moving the phone number over. Increase the space between 'construction' and 'C&J', decrease the space between C, & and J. Choose a different typeface for the phone number, to give you better contrast with the other type.
Also whats the point of filling the bleed area with black? It kinda defeats the point doesn't it?
cjoe, I think your rendition is a cool concept for a designer's card. but I digress. please, carry on.

i think it'd be cool to scan in a section of the tape that builders use to cordon off areas that they are working in (http://www.tooled-up.com/artwork/ProdImage/63382.jpg) and then set the type beautifully in black on the yellow area... maybe on a diagonal?
dis.
^^ reminds me of this: http://www.no-spec.com/
Would you need to scan though? Cool idea dis.

no you wouldnt need a scan EC, you could create it in illy.
for me if you scanned it in and gave it the right sort of treatments in photoshop it'd really get across a gritty/real textured feel... im not sure if just drawing it it illy would be a bit to precise and clinical.
itd look really cool if the tape had a few little crincles in it not massive ones, just enough to cast a few small shadows when you scanned/photographed it.
dis.
mmmm hmmm, I smell what you're cookin'.

I agree with all fronts. Though for some artists, it's easier to see with some kind of actual crop to see what the finished might look like. I use a white frame on a seperate layer to check once in a while.
I'm constantly drilled at school about putting stroke on text. It doesn't bother me THAT badly on this piece, but i wonder if there could be a better choice than black?
I feel a little weird about there not being an employee name on there too.
