Needed a break from some mind-numbing stuff, so I thought I'd take a minute and work on an idea kicking around in my head.
My friend is looking for a logo for his website and asked me to see if I could come up with something. The website is sort of a centralized location for all things electronic dance music in the state of south dakota. Its a place to get unsigned local artists' tracks, download mixes from local djs, post event reviews and discuss other things related to the scene. here's my first rough concept:

The basis for this design is to convey a music community. I did some brain storming about the site and I thought the logo really needed to drive home the community aspect of the scene. I chose the central figure to have headphones to represent the local djs, and the other two figures to be either fans or music producers behind the scene. Mostly though I wanted it to represent a group of music lovers, both djs and fans alike.
couple things that I'm doubting myself on: 1) the headphone thing has been done a million times with music websites, 2) the figures are also a little too generic and should be stylized a bit more.
barely an hour into this, and should probably get back to doing some real work. so lemme know what you think - good, bad and ugly.
ps: I had some other concepts I was working on and then my computer crashed. lost them all, so this isn't the one and only direction I'm going, just the only thing saved. :(
