Hi all...well I did it...I finally used Illustrator...well not 100%. I drew out my shapes in Illustrator and then brought them over one by one into photoshop to add the shadows and the depth. This is the piece I created for Illustration Fridays topic Angels and Devils. No picuture reference here just came out of my head....used the pencil tool in illustrator, helped a lot....tried that pen tool but couldnt get it to jive with me quite yet....so what do you all think?

You posted on a Sunday night (top post) that might have something to do with it. I think your design is pretty cool. I like your work.

i noticed that some of the lines around the features look a little dull. For example the chin looks a little blurry. I would try sharpening them up a bit. The eyes and lips look really good!

You did a nice job just working from memory. Your shading is pretty nice only I would add a little more color to the skin tone instead of just the flesh color and the darker brown for shadow. Maybe this is the old oil painter in me coming out but skin tones have many colors to them, you should check out some of Mangasprais work on the forum here. One of the ways I explain to people about how I create an illustration either using traditional methods like oils or watercolors or on a computer is for instance I know what a motorcycle looks like but to illustrate one from memory and make it look right is damn near impossible, you have to use photo reference of some kind. Overall though nice job.

Your work reminds me SO much of some really old (early 90's?) PC RPG/Adventure game and I complete forget the name of it - they made like 6 of them...and now that I can't remember it's going to eat away at my soul all day long...and it's only 6:54am =/

I think it had the word "kings" in it!

King's Quest! And they made 8 of them haha. But now that I look at images I may be wrong - oh well!

At least I can make it through the day without going mad.

the pen tool definitely takes time to learn... great job for your first bout with illustrator! Yup, it can be pretty slow here on the weekends, that's probably why you didn't get a whole lot of feedback yet.

I love her eyes especially. They draw your attention immediately. Great color and detail. Nicely done!

People are so hard to draw, don't you think?

wierd I tried posting twice and lost the page...hopefully they dont all show up on my next load.......Thanks for the comments! I did pay extra attention to the eyes this time....and here I thought they where way to big....glad they are working...not sure when I will attempt that pen tool...I really like the pencil tool though....and the fact I can bring segments into photoshop as I create them...nice to be able to use both programs...wierd thing is the people I draw just out of my head are a lot more real looking then the times I use a photo for reference.....
