Hello, I was debating with myself whether I should even post this but I figure you'll never get any opinnions or information about a career you may want to go into unless you try

Well I'm 17 right now and going to be a Senior in highschool next year
I'm thinking about going into graphic design

I havent had a good computer but I tried to make this when I was in school
(I hope to get a good computer at home when I have the money before college starts)

Well this is a design I made for my band with the use of a photo I took and I used I believe it was just Microsoft Photodraw 2000

I have a critique for myself, I know the text needs work... but I had kinda a limited amount of things to work with

Well do you think I have an eye for design or anything?
I know a lot of people probably are already thinking this is a stupid thread
But I just wanted to ask

Looks like a very good start to me :)

If you're still debating on whether or not you want to pursue graphic design, I'd recommend you take some basic art and computer design classes at a nearby junior college. If you find yourself liking them, then there you have it. If not, you're not out much money and had to have learned something in the process.

the potential is there, and the concept is good, but it just looks a bit 'filtery'.

I agree with Shellebelle. If it's something you're seriously thinking about. Dig into it some more. Take the art classes. Talk to some professionals in your area. See if you can get a part-time job at the local newspaper design dept. This is the time to investigate all things you are interested in. I personally think it's silly to make 17 year olds decide what they are going to do for the rest of their lives.
