Hi guys does anyone have any tips or links to tips on leaflet design as I am designing a leaflet for a college project and it has to be very colourful and wacky, I have very bright photographs and want advice on how to make them really jump off the page, I am quite good typographically anyway but any advice on that would be a help also. Thanks guys

hmm what program will you be using,
Is this a real life project - as in does it have costs and production numbers associated with it?
If not and your only doing one or two as an example - think about the shape of the document, pop up images, different ways of folding the leaflet, the physical form of it can help enhance the design and underline your message.
If cost etc is a factor, start with the above ideas and tone it down to suit.
Making it standout will depend upon your message, information and audience.

Jackbrawn, this is your assignment, not ours. Come up with some ideas. Post them in the Showcase section if you want the denizens of that forum to chime in on what they think is wrong with it, and go from there. We can't do your homework for you cuz no one will do your job for you when you get into the real world.

true i was gonna mention something along those lines before
what you have said above jackbrawn ie make it jump out from picture etc
you sound like you have a few thoughts already on it
work from there on
Pick up some leaflets you like the look of from everywhere and anywhere you can, use them for inspiration. Sketch a mock-up of the layout, crack on with it until you're happy with it. Post it on here for us to critique it!

Thanks guys, PD sorry if it came across as if I was taking an easy way out, I assure you I wasnt, that is why I gave so little detail on the project. I have some ideas I just wanted to know if I was thinking along the right lines. My apologies.

I'm torn...do I send a link for what I think is a great execution of photos combined with 2-d imagery, or not?
I think I will, just because this site is very cool (just recently won a webby for best design aesthetic): http://www.stylewars.com/index3.html
