Hi guys I work at a Prepress company and we need to buy new monitors so I was wondering if you could give me some advice about this. We are considering between Apple cinema display 20" and LAcie 319 lcd, we already have the cinema display model but I would like to know if the Lacie is better or not.
THANKS

Specially designed for color experts such as graphic designers, photographers and pre-press technicians, this superb 19” monitor displays smooth gradients and superior color. The LaCie 319 utilizes an S-IPS TFT panel, offering a CRT-grade color gamut, an excellent contrast ratio of 600:1 and wide 178° viewing angles. Achieve reliable color rendering with its embedded 10-bit gamma correction and associated LaCie blue eye pro calibration software. Fully adjustable, it can be height-adjusted, tilted, swiveled and rotated a full 90° to portrait mode*.
The ad above is the first LCD ad I've seen that stresses color calibration for prepress and graphic artist. The price aint bad at around $1200. I have a Lacie 19" CRT at home for years and I like it very much. I think the Lacie is cheaper than the 20" Apple LCD. If it were me I'd go for the Lacie.
