Illustrator: 3D tubes

Hi: I'm re-creating an image which includes numerous 3D hoops/tubes - any iedas of ways to create these? I'm not having much luck using the 3d feature...:confused:

3D feature... Yeah, don't imagine you would. It's very limited in some ways.
You'll have to do it the hard way. Look around for some tutorials on creating "neon" or "neon tubing". That'll give you the general idea.

It could be a combination of gradients and/or Blending and meshing- but it can become a real memory hog when you do that. And confusing to boot
