I'm having a bit of trouble. I'm trying to import an image that is supposed to have a transparant background into flash. I tried importing both a GIF and PNG. Unfortunately, when in flash, white pixels hug the edges of this image. These white pixes don't exist on the image when they are displayed in an HTML document over a darker colored background, but they show up in flash. What gives? and how do I get rid of it?!
Thanks!!

Adjust your matte in Photoshop when "saving to web" (either as a GIF or PNG), make your matte the same color as your Flash background. This adjusts the color of those little pixels around the edges of the image. You could remove the matte entirely, but this makes for jaggy edges.

Follow Patrick's advice. If the background is going to be multi-colored, stick with a dark or mid-range color. The white pixels around the image are actually off-white pixels that are halfway between white and the image's colors.
