hello forum,

I'm just graduating from my degree course in Graphic design. We are having an external exhibition in a gallery somewhere. I have to make a business card for myself! I was just wondering if anyone had any tips about what should go on there info wise. I know the obvious, obviously... name, email, phonenumber.. is there anything else? Should I put "B.A VISUAL COMMUNICATION" and the name of my university and stuff?

any feedback would be great. cheers

My opinion on this is that your schooling is not something you need to put on your card. That's something to talk about. The card should just be something memorable and with your vital info. The rest of the information will be given out during your face time.

I would also think that some businesses would get turned away by someone just out of school rather than looking at your work for how good it is. No need ot give them a reason to do that.

yeah, just put the bare minimum: maybe a logo (if you have a business or some freelancing identity) but that's not necessarily important, but your name, address, phone number, email and maybe your homepage? anybody else want to chime in on that?

and please, make it all readable. remember, it's a little bit of yourself you're leaving behind to help them contact you if you're what they're looking for. it's not necessary to cram everything you know about design onto it. i've never hired someone on the basis of how their business card or resume *looks*. anybody can copy that from someone else; let me sit you down at a machine and see where you go, for example, with an ad or a layout.
