Hi guys & gals! Help me out...i've created a few logo comps for a potential "on-the-side" design studio. which do you like best, worst, and why?

I like all of them!... nice designs!

3 & 7 are my favorites though.

thanks! good call with #3...it's a really round, soft typeface but i wanted to add a techy feel to it...hence the cut circles. :)

I was really digging 3 because I felt in that one the font related well to the panda image with those cut circles.

Reasoning behind liking 7 - Um... I really liked the panda image and liked that in that one the panda seemed like the logo and the text seemed like it could come or go depending upon the logo's use. I was drawn to the panda, and therefore drawn to the logo with the most prominent panda. :D

Gee, I don't want to get in the way here of whatever else is going on but I agree with Madora - my choices exactly - although I think I'm not crazy about the font choice on #7 and like Madora, was drawn more to the larger panda than what the text looked like.

If it wasn't for the last minute nothing would ever get done.

I like number one but I think the panda should be a diffrent typeface so the contrast isn't just in color but I like the way your headed.

What does the name mean to you? I'm not sure it says 'american design studio' to me but it isn't stupid. For me pandas always bring up a more chinese/oriental or a zooish picture in my head - kinda like koalas bring australia to mind.

If it wasn't for the last minute nothing would ever get done.

benjo: i'll play around with that idea. not sure if it would be too much though. may fall into the 'belts & suspenders' design category. :)

LTG: 'robopanda' means nothing to me, really. just an interesting (catchy?) domain name that i've purchased. I'm not sure that i want 'american design studio' implied in the name, just something that's memorable and rolls off the tongue easily.

thanks for the input guys!

I like the name! Definately catchy and to me it does sound like a design studio type name... not necessarily american... but then again, if a name doesn't openly suggest anything else, i typically some sort of art/design related business.

Though I'm not a furry, so showing up in the panda suit may be a bit much. ;)

Yep, I like the second one with the gaps better. It relates a little better to the panda, but not so much so that it is annoying.

If you want to add some color I think instead of being grey, if you put the 'robo' in some sort of bold color the logo would look awesome. Not trying to knock the grey, I like it... just a little suggestion for some variation.

The second one is very cool. The spacing matches the panda face.

The name... hmmmmmmm, well I don't know but It can do.

I like 1,2, and 3. The 3 with spacing is cool too. The 'robo' in 4 is annoying. I think it would look better with more robitic panda.

I like your original #1 the best. The thin lines of the font contrast well with the solid black areas of the panda, but still keeping with the roundness of the 'o' - giving it a clean look.
I find the art deco approached a little overwhelming, at contrasting with the panda theme.

*Just a thought* Another idea might be to incorporate the panda into one of the round o's.

Hey Mike,

nice stuff.. I like the 2nd #3. It's nice and has a good feel to it. what is this for? I do like the name. it's silly yet catchy. I want to know more (that's the point right?)

TallMike,
I like the logo of the panda. Prefer the classic font look of #1. Consider the Futura, Franklin , Frutiger, Gill Sans and Universe font families. A clean sans serif font. Don't get cute or trendy with the type. You want longevity (don't we all). Consider knocking the type out of a black rectangle or oval, (not elipse) that is equal in height to the panda and sits either to the right or below the mark. Clean and simple is the way to go. The name is cool, I once almost started a business called StreetPuppy Studios just because I liked the name. Just consider the implications and becareful what you want to be known for.

The 'Lettering Guy' says: 'It's not only what you say, but how well you say it.'

i think the original #1 was the best...it's a classic font and will never go out of 'fashion'. the other fonts are just a bit too much. it's like you looked around to see what fonts you had that would look cool. original #1 projects a more professional look than the others as well ... of course it all depends on what type of image you want to project.

Im feeling number 3.
I like the way the balance in the font between black and white actually has connotations of a pandas coat which is anchored by the actual image of the panda.

Oh ok just scrolled down! I see number 3 has been chosen. Well I think the none techy look works better. The cut away lines in the techy font seem a little distracting to the eye.

Maybe I'm just thinking to deeply. But hey thats what we are here for to share oppinions.

i'm going to have to go with #6 also.... ROBO is hard, defined, without emotion. panda, is soft, serif'ed, and in contrast to ROBO.

I would like to see number 3 font with number 7 panda. If you are going to use the logo for something besides web, then it will have to go small for letterhead and cards...therefore, I think the panda should be bigger...and agree with Madora that the panda can hold it's own....nice all of them, though, whichever you decide.

I must be tripping, I swear I wrote on this earlier today....any way, they all look great.

How about the font you all seem to like best (3?) with the bottom panda. I agree Madora that the panda should be most prominent...if the words disappeared, the picture still speaks for itsel. You could even have big panda, with the words underneath, around something.

Anyway, they look good, love the panda...
Peace
