For some reason I cant seem to move around picture or text boxes around on the workspace any more. I have checked to make sure the layer isnt locked and it isnt and also that the position hasnt been locked and that isnt. It has always worked up until now so I am wondering if there is something that I set that is preventng the rectangle boxes to not be repositioned. Note that I can still manipulate the boxes just cant move their physical location.

By any chance is your stuff on a master page?

Either visit the master page and move your stuff from there, or cut the object from the master page to the page you're currently working with.

Masters are for consistency...any object that wants to be in the same spot on 50 pages is best positioned once on a master page...the advantage that you cannot *accidently* move them is working against you in this case. If you want to move your stuff actually put it on the page and not the master page.

Command Shift (mac) or Control Shift (pc) click the object to override the master page settings.

I can push the arrow buttons up and down side and side and the boxes will move, I can also cut but then not paste. Mouse still will not move boxes. Tried to use touchpad instead on laptop and still no movement of boxes.

Why would I not be able to paste elements off of one document onto another though. I understand what a master page is but it doesnt make sense that I can scale the boxes and move them up and down by using the arrow keys but not using the touchpad on my laptop and/or mouse. The elements on the page are moveable and can be manipulated but for some reason I just cant move them by dragging them. I deleted the preference thinking that maybe it was something I set but that still didnt work.

Not sure if this quite the same, but there are times I'm setting stuff up
in ID and suddently NONE of my key commands work!
Can't use the keyboard for a damn thing!
It'll all come back if I re-start.
It has nothing to do w/ what workspace I'm using either.
WEIRD!
