Hey everyone,

I'm a new member here! And I have a really odd question, it's been probably answered before, but when I created a business card in illustrator at 3.2' by 2', and exported the file as a .PNG under a resolution of 300 DPI, the image did not stay at the dimension I set, but it became a lot bigger. So , what am I doing wrong, how can I make a 3.2' by 2' business card at 300 DPI.

Thanks for your help!!

Thanks for the welcome,

I thought that was the 'standard' file format. I'm a complete noob when it comes to this printing stuff. So, how should I setup my document so I can print at 300 DPI while maintain that 3.2' by 2' dimension. And what file format should I export it as?

Vodka, welcome to the forum. Go to the resources section and read the pinned topics (the green ones at the top of the list) Everything you need to know about file prep is in there. Basically what you are doing now is about as wrong as you could possibly be. LOL that's ok though because at least you are asking questions. /emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Read those posts and you will understand what I mean. /emoticons/cool.gif

Kool...youda man! Sorry V.M. I didn't know you were a total noob at GD. I thought if you were saving as a .png then you weren't trying to go to print but get something up on the web...but then I was confused as to WHY you would be putting a business card on the web...LOL...and that's why I was asking k :o)

Stick around this place, you'll learn a ton of useful info!
