a few years ago I took a class on web design covering flash/fireworks/dreamweaver, and never did anything with it afterwards. Now I find myself in a position where I need to relearn it, so I am redoing my website in macromedia instead of the program I was using.

Anyway, my question is, I vaguely remember that there is a way in dreamweaver to name your pages so that the first page someone comes to can have a flash movie on it, but once they are into the site, a different page is the home page so that everytime someone hits the home button, they don't have to sit through the flash movie again. I hope this question isn't as confused as I am! (wry look)

Thanks for the help,

Dennis

Ok, this is all to do with your navigation and page naming conventions.
Generally the first page you create is called default or index.html - check with your hosting provider.
Once this page is in place, you can create a flash intro and link this to the main home page - you can name this anything you like but your 'home' navigation button should be linked to this page.
The easiest way to workout the route and page names is to create a site plan, listing all of the pages and how they are linked together.

and this way if someone follows a link to my site, they'll go to the flash page even if it's not named the index page? oh, I get it. If I make the home button link to the secondary page, then all internal links will act as if it's home. Duh! That makes sense!

That's the easy part, the harder part which you might want to think about, and to me this is what makes good web design is this:

Say i come to your site once, view the flash intro blah blah, but then come back later, most likely i will not want to see that whole thing again. You should have the option to let the user skip intro, or do it automatically which i think is the slickest.
