I need a bad design catharsis. Sometimes when I'm stuck I make the worst rendition I can and oddly, I feel a little better. Like getting a pebble out of my shoe.

Just to spice it up a little, I'm going to post a defense for the design that is, of course, ridiculous. But what would be the point if it weren't?

Wanna join me? How bad can you make it, really? I mean really. C'mon, it's like purposely singing really really really badly in the shower. It feels oddly, disturbingly, freeing.

Muahahaha!

The design on the Kaboom, both in color and font, invites celebration and movement, which of course is what fireworks are all about.

The pyrotechnics has a fire-like overlay that is intense and full of energy!

The oval holds everything together and provides a sleek, neutral platform to showcase the design.

The fireworks let everyone know what this company is all about. Colorful, fun fireworks displays.

I hope this design is made in photoshop, because vector logos are pretty much just a trend that needs to die.

Why would anybody create a logo as a "vector"? That's stupid. A logo needs to be reproducable in ANY medium, whereas a vector logo can only be opened in Illustrator. How are you going to put it on the web? HUH!?

:D

Thats a good one Ghastly! Nice usage of the rainbow gradient. I feel it is dramatically underused these days. I mean, come on everyone, Photoshop included it in the default gradients for a reason!

The funny thing is I used MotterFem (font for Kaboom) in a serious design recently. It felt kind of dirty. :o

P.S. How is it that my totally wicked logo design came up in a discussion about purposely doing bad design? What are you saying?

Ghastly, I'm awestruck. The layering, the color scheme... wow.

Hey I didn't see that! (And if it's any consolation, the font I used wasn't called MotterFem... seriously. Not MotterFem. It's an illusion.)

You're right. The "O" had me at first. They are very similar fonts. I don't have any caps in mine, so you can't see how similar the caps are too.
