When I was in Nashville last month I visited Ernest Tubb's record shop. I saw they had "Cash: The Johnny Cash Autobiography" which I've been wanting to read. It was only $12 as opposed to the listed $25 for the hardcover version.
I was at amazon.com grabbing an image of the cover to throw on my blog when I saw the price it was going for. anywhere from $80-$500 all depending on the condition etc. Just so happens mine is in mint condition and is a 1st Edition print and those are going for $225 and up. Any place that is advertising them for cheaper is mysteriously "out of stock" when you go to order it.
I guess they only printed a certain number in 97 and 98 and haven't printed the hardcover since.
The good news is they had another one at the same record shop so I called them up, payed them an extra $5 for shipping and now I have two mint condition 1st edition copies of Johnny Cash's autobiography.
I'll probably by a paperback copy for $7 soon and really get to reading it
anyone want to buy one for $200?
