To All,

One of my colleagues is appearing for an adobe exam. What are the important points which he needs to be thorough with to be successful in the exam?

Thank You

Never taken one but practically everything I would say. Though I am willing to assume that greater emphasis is placed on the core tools of whatever app they are being tested on as opposed to the *fun* extras...what application is the test based on?

To be honest with you I couldn't give too much specific information purely and simply because for the 2 Adobe apps I know very well, there is for every crucial function, half a dozen more that are predicated upon knowlege of it with just as much importance in their own right...of the two I lean more towards Illustrator though

Illustrator: The flagship tool of Illustrator is it's pen tool...got to be on top form here surely, but this is not the only way to create vector objects...primitives (such as circles, rectangles etc..) are used frequently as the basis for more complicated objects, and there are other methods such as blends, expansion of effects into individual objects etc...Thorough knowledge of the tools used to manipulate paths and anchor points is critically important, as is the ability to use pathfinder commands...Lets not forget the knowledege of what a vector object is, its make up and why it is different from a raster object. Then the user should be confident with the various ways to duplicate and apply transforms to an object (translation, scale, and rotation)...and to see the advantage with each method...illustrator has powerful type setting options...gotta be comfortable here. What else...hmm, correct usage of colour & swatches for different types of jobs, ability to work with imported imagery, the correct way to save a file for a specific application, the output options (generic), ability to work with masks, creating actions, navigating the program...hell I could just keep going and going and going!! (but I won't...others should chip in perhaps)

edit: how can the person taking this exam not know what is important material?

edit2: ed up...do you tries trick us matty? :D ...just seen a few of your other posts, and your colleague asked you to find out for them what they need to know to pass their Ace exam??....hehe you got me good there mate, have spent about half an hour typing this thing...well done!
