Hi im Nathan, i'm 20 and I go to school right now for graphic design. I am still trying to find out exactly what and where I wanna go with what I'm going to learn. I've always been a traditional artist and I'd like to incorporate the digital stuff with the traditional. Currently, I am pursuing an Associates degree at a community college in Orlando, Valencia CC if anyone is familiar, the program is very strong from what i've gotten out of it, however, this summers semester will be my last and I will be moving up north to the Philadelphia area to live with another side of my family and get to know some of the people they know in the advertising and design world. Connections are always nice in this competitive field. With that said I'll definitely be pursuing a bachelors degree in the near future and I randomly found this web site by searching for "Graphic Design Forums" haha, well, so far with the homepage topics and blogs ive gotten a bit of insight as to the profession and am glad something like this exists, itll tear me away from the wasted time of myspace and ill start learning things. Since alot of you on this site seem like professionals, if you have any advice to give a prospective student as per books, good schools in the northeast that dont break banks, general tips on portfolios, whatever I would appreciate anything thrown my way. I hope to grow with this community and meet some intuitive artists along the way, nice to meet you guys.
