Well, I gotta jump in, I've spent all night so far reading the intros, so I'm putting my own up, so Kool doesn't ban me.

My name is Nicole but people call me Spike...oh wait a minute, they don't actually, that was from a political hip-hop thing I did a long time ago. Starting over...

My name is Nicole, I live in San Diego, although I am a New York city native (born and raised in Hell's Kitchen, lived in and around the area for almost 39 years).

I work as a production artist at a downtown San Diego ad agency. I've been working in the industry, in a production capacity, for 28 years! I first started when I was 20 (so you do the math), when computer typesetting was relatively new, and definitely not WYSIWYG and now I work on a Mac. I have to say, Macs are better than the way I used to do it, because I can do a whole lot more now than I even dreamed of being able to do then.

I'd like to do more design oriented stuff, but I don't get a whole lot of opportunities for that kind of thing at my regular job, pretty much only when I'm freelancing. I'm kind of at a crossroads actually on that, since I'd like to do more design stuff, but I'm just not sure what direction I want to take at the tender age of 48. :)

That being said, my other interests include reading and I also play mostly guitar these days, sing, and some piano. I've also dabbled with the flute (long time ago), bassoon (see "flute"), and drums (see "flute" and "bassoon"). I've also toyed with the idea of doing more writing (I write in my sometimes spare time), kind of in the direction of journalism, and have toyed with the idea of taking some classes in it. Right now, just can't afford it.

I'm recently married, a little over a year, my husband tolerates my new addiction to the GDF. I have a cute little black cat named Darla.

I look forward to growing with the GDF. I've gained lots of insights about design just by being here, and it's inspiring me to think more about trying to focus in that direction, pigeonholes be damned. So eventually you might see some the stuff I toy with in the showcase. I did put one thing up, but I still have to fix it and make it purdier (and also less buggy).

Anyhoo, that's a nutshell version. I look forward to getting to know all of you even better the longer I'm here.
