I noticed that a lot of the regulars were re-introducing themselves, and I'm a sucker for peer pressure.
I'm from Moxee, WA, which might be the most insignificant place on the map. I'm 27 years old. I am married and have two young boys.
I spent 6 years in the ARMY, trying to get the money for art school. By the time I was out, going to school full time and supporting a family was not an option. So, I decided to go with the Art Institute Online. In an awesome turn of events, I was able to land a full-time design job based on my freelance portfolio before I had even finished my second quarter.
I've been working professionally for two years now, all while continuing to work towards my bachelor's in graphic design. I graduate in 2007. I feel bad for a lot of my fellow students. I see a lot of sub-par talent and the Art Institue Online isn't preparing them for the real world as much as they should be, considering what they charge for tuition. One of the reasons I came to GDF is because you can't get a good, honest, and helpful critique in the classroom. Most people don't know what they are talking about, and the ones who do are too polite to give it to you straight. The other reason is I like tacos!!
