What is Tearware?

I'm looking for some nice free fonts and I stumbled upon Tearware! I know Freeware and Shareware. But what the heck is Tearware, lol?

I have no clue. Never heard of it. Gimmick?

I think those are fonts that bring tears of rage to the eyes of your printer, because every time you design a job with it, it crashes their RIP.

LOL, I just walked back in from movie night at a friend's house, and I'm still wired here.

I put in 3 hours of "sleep", and a lovely thunderstorm woke me up and I haven't been able to doze back off at all.
