Hi Designers,
Would anyone here be interested in having some information on some techniques to consider when determining what stock to use for which project? Anyone ever run into difficulties when working with their printer regarding stocks? We can offer some advice from a printer's perspective and suggest some guidance as the paper process is tackled.

Thanks!

Doesn't sound like a bad idea. I am sure there are some on here that could use the information myself. Just be careful NOT to advertise anything. We don't tolerate that on this forum. Information is ok, advertising is not. Just so you are aware. ;)

The Digital Printing Process -- Yes, folks it is here to stay. This super fast process prints in speeds of more than 60 sheets a minute. Here is what it means for your designs and stocks. The variety of paper for your project depends on whether the job will run offset or digital and it is important to address that in the beginning of the design process. There are two differences between Offset and Digital Stocks.

Digital Papers are completely different than offset. Digital stocks are created in such a way that they are able to handle the high heat and low moisture conditions from a digital press. Offset stocks are created for the high level of moisture conidtions of the inks on an offset press. More and more paper mills are creating stocks that are the digital versions of their offset grades. Your best bet is to make sure your printer offers you an equivilant option for an offset stock if the job is digital. As the technology of the digital presses develops there will be more and more offset stocks available that are digital friendly.
