This is v4. www.edgewebdesign.org/v4/ (http://www.edgewebdesign.org/v4/)

This time I even spread my wings and used different fonts. No Verdana! I can hardly believe it. /emoticons/biggrin.gif

Feel free to rip it apart and be as nitpicky as possible.

Note that the stupid beveled logo is what I wanted to turn into a cloud, but I guess it is just to thin and sharp. I was thinking about turning that into rock as well. Any comments?

Ryan, I think this is a huge improvement. Well done. On a strictly personal note I don't really care for the stone texture on your name. This is just an opinion though and not a suggestion that you change it. The sight looks great. /emoticons/cool.gif

I don't know what the old site looked like, but I agree about the stone texture. Maybe you could enlarge the stoneface on the left and make it look like the name was carved into it? Dunno...

The black on medium-dark blue is hard to read. And (don't shoot me!) I like Verdana! At a smaller font size though.

You're going in the right direction, keep working on it. The positioning of the rock is good.
There's not enough contrast between text & background colour as ylaenna says. And there's no visual interest beyond the header. Also I don't like the 'stone effect' on your name.

Code looks nice and clean.

Well, the old version is still at www.edgewebdesign.org, because I haven't changed it over. I don't even have the other pages done.

Better. I think the menu text should be sans-seif. And you should maybe even go to white for the main text.

Much better Ryan. I don't really like the graphics though, to make excellent design you have to learn how to work without effects, them when you do use them they'll look great.

I'm touching up my site and it freaking validates but the 'text-align: center;' isn't working. So you know how I can't spell and what do I do, copy and paste it form your layout and it still doesn't center. My body selector must be cursed.

Anyhow the blue looks good but the new strips don't match. You need to create a color pallet and stick to it.

I think it's a major improvement overall.

text-align: center; only works for IE. You have to add margin: 0 auto; to the div you want to center to get it to center in mozilla, opera, safari, etc.

I just took the colors for the strips from the top image. I will probably mess with all the graphics again.

All the pages are up now and it's converted to PHP.
