Another newbie here . My name is Eric. Been lurking the forums for a while, and just couldn't take it anymore... I had to sign up so I could join in on all the fun.

My job title is "Sign Architect", but it should actually be "Guy Who Does Everything." I've been in the sign business, and with my current company for just over 3 years now. The company is a wholesale sign manufacturing plant. My job includes, but it not limited to, customer approval drawings, detailed shop drawings (instructions to build by), engineering of sign design, vinyl and dimensional graphics layouts, vehicle and window graphics, CNC, and various other odd and end jobs. I only have an Associates degree in General & Architectural Drafting, so I'm not much of a graphic artist. It's just something I enjoy piddling with in my own time for the simple enjoyment of art and creativity.

Here are some of the programs I use for work, and play: FlexiSIGN-PRO v7, EnRoute 3, AutoCAD 2004/07, Illustrator CS2, Photoshop CS2, and Corel Draw 11.

Apart from designing and drawing my biggest passion is music. I've been playing some type of a musical instrument since I was about 10 years old. My main instrument is the guitar. I enjoy writing and recording my own music in my little studio I have set up. My studio is kind of like the place I can go to escape reality, and get lost in my own little world.

And yes, I'm a Southerner. So, I talk a little funny, and do all the typical Southern things like grillin', huntin', fishin', muddin', ridin' 4-wheelers (ATV's), campin', and drinkin' large quantities of alcohol while doing vari... pretty much anything

Hope to see ya'll around.....

Welcome to the forum Eric! Glad you decided to join in the fun! This is a great place.

I'm a "musician" of sorts too, my main instrument was french horn, but they are pretty expensive so I just usually end up singing or hammering away on somebody's piano nowdays.

I don't hunt or fish, but I enjoy camping, mountain biking, grilling, bonfires and boozes too!

Enjoy your stay. ;)

Seems like if you didn't start early, you have little chance of being any good. Oh well, I'll still probably get a guitar one of these days anyway.

Welcome!

Hi Sign-Man,

What part of Mississippi are you in? I used to live in Newton and in Union, both are barely on the map! Sounds like we have a lot of the same interests! I play guitar, too. My paying gigs are for cajun and zydeco, but my fun stuff is old timey stuff like Charlie Poole and stuff from the early 1900's. I sing a lot of Charlie Poole tunes. My husband and I also own a record label that produces mostly Louisiana stuff - http://www.louisianaradio.com. We do quite a bit of field recordings, etc. We mostly do old stuff of people who haven't been recorded but are legendary in this area - no real money in it, but lots of love!!

Anyhow, welcome!! I'm new too!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

@ reuber1... It's never too late to learn how to play instrument. It might take you a bit longer the older you are, but if you have the patience and will, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Feel free to ask me anything you want about the guitar, and I'll try to give you an answere, or atleast point you in the right direction.

As far as music goes, I play a little bit of everything from blues to heavy metal. Most of the stuff that I right would most likely be classified as "modern hard rock" I guess. If you want, you can check out some of the stuff I've done here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=151551

@ Cornfed... I'm from up around Grenada. I'm not in a band at the moment, so I just record out of my home, and jam with a few friends now and then.

Welcome Sign-Man, I have done alot of art for vinyl and I am one horrible musician (drums) I mainly use it to get out the anger. I love fishing and do alot of pheasant hunting, yes we have hunting and fishing in New Jersey. $ wheeling is awesome unfortunately there are not too many places to go around here.
