Ok, so yeah, I should have thought of a better name before creating my profile, is there any way to change it now?
Anyways, I finally got hired by a marketing agency to be the inhouse designer in Northern California a month ago. They specialize in direct mail for... *gasp* Heating and Air conditioning companies* HOW EXCITING!!!! But a paying job is a paying job, and I have been given quite a bit of creative freedom so I can't complain.
Well, I've read a lot of posts here from people who have been freelancing, and are trying to get hired by a design firm. I feel for you guys, I sent out my resumes over and over and got only a few calls back. One of my problems was I was looking for jobs exclusively in the SF Bay Area, and there's just too much competition for an inexperienced designer, no matter how talented you are..... unless you are the second coming of Leonardo DaVinci.
The main reason I'm joining is to get constructive feedback on designs, since I am the only designer at this agency, and the other employees tend to give me unconditional praise (which is very nice, but not always helpful)
Well, needless to say, I'm very happy to be here and looking forward to reading many more stimulating posts from everyone.
