Now that I’ve made it over 100 posts, do I get tacos, or is that when you get to 1,000 posts? Guess I don’t need tacos now anyway, I’m hoping the boyfriend will take me to Olive Garden for dinner before we go see Nacho Libre tonight. I miss Olive Garden, I used to go there for lunch everyday, but now that I don’t work for someone else and Olive Garden is an hour away, I don’t get there as often as I’d like. Anyway, I figured I better make my over here and officially introduce myself.
I live in Minnesota, way out in the sticks. It’s beautiful here! Although I could do without the extremely cold winters. There are a lot of other places I wouldn’t mind living, but all my family is here, so this is home. I have a wonderful boyfriend and 2 year old little boy. They help to keep me sane and they always put a smile on my face (maybe I shouldn’t say always, the little one has hit the “terrible two’s” so some days that’s questionable). We have one dog, Izzy. My boyfriend’s daughter’s fish, Goldie. We also have two cats, they were here when I moved into this house, the owners couldn’t take them with, but I love them all the same. They don’t really have real names, just kitty, but they don’t seem to mind. One is pretty shy, but the other is very sweet and my little boy is madly in love with him, he’s a great kitty!
I have a few nicknames, one is Hillbilly Barbie, an old work buddy started this. By looking at me, you’d think I was some prissy snot who never left the pavement - not true, I’m barely ever on the pavement, I just look good no matter where I am! Nothing wrong with trying to look nice - even if you are out in the mud and the muck, I just don’t wear my “very” good clothes out there. I love trucks, especially my own, the “Heavy Chevy” - the louder the pipes and the bigger the motor, the better! I absolutely love to hunt, goose hunting is my favorite. I also enjoy fishing, 4-wheeling, mudding and just plain being outside.
Another nickname is Two Can Tilly, this originated quite some time ago. I’m only 4’ 10” and 100 pounds and I’m totally inebriated after two beers. Guess there’s nothing wrong with that, I could get drunk all week off a 12 pack, but I rarely ever drink so that doesn’t do me much good.
The last one is Font Whore. I got this one from an old co-worker. She was always asking me “what’s this font”, and I’d usually always have an answer for her. One day she called me a font whore and it just stuck.
I graduated in May of 2000 with a 2 year degree and started “prepressing” full time and designing on the side. I left my prepress job for a real design job and have been designing ever since - both design jobs I had were at print shops, so I guess I still had to do prepress as well, and when it was slow in my department I had to do bindery and even ran the small press a few times. I worked for several years in a town an hour away (can’t say that I miss that drive - especially when the roads were horrible). I took a job in a town 20 minutes away in mid-April, but that ended up not working out, so I’m trying to be full-time on my own now. I don’t expect miracles overnight, but the bills haven’t stopped coming - I’ve thought of taking down the mailbox, but I’m sure they’d find someway to get the bills here - at any rate, some more business would be pretty darn nice! I’ll just keep trying and keep saying my prayers.
Well, this is getting quite long and I’ve covered the main points so I think this is enough for now. I’ve enjoyed my time here so far and I look forward to continuing to get to know everyone!
