Hi,
This is my first post after lurking for a couple of days. Looks like a great group.
This logo is for my company. We're a design studio with a focus on small businesses. I've been going back and forth between these two designs for ages. They're totally different, and I'd love your feedback.
If you're interested, you can take a look at www.peterflaschner.com (http://www.peterflaschner.com) to see the kind of work I do, in order to get a feel as to which is more appropriate.

Ahhh... it loads so slowly! Would a status bar give the illusion that the page is loading faster?
Anyway, definitely the 2nd logo. The flashlight symbol leaves an impression and it fits your website a lot better (like he said ^ ^ ). The first logo makes me think of beer. :D

what if the flashlight graphic was longer and under the words flashlight design and the helping small... words were reversed out on top of it?
I'm not a real graphic designer, but I do play one on tv

I've spent the past couple of minutes playing with your suggestion (hmm, that sounds dirtier than it is).
It's a good idea, but in order for the flashlight to be long enough to stretch the width of the text, it also becomes quite wide, making the whole thing look too heavy. Thanks for the suggestion though.

i like the second one better, but i'd try playing more like snypa suggested - it just feels too wide for me right now. but definately the second one.
what neighbourhood in t.o. are you moving to? (i'm in t.o. myself, and moving into new digs in august, too...! it's like we're twins...). saying that, what part of van are you in, now? it's a small world...(*dumdumduuuuummmm*) anyways, before you leave bc, head on down to the fringe cafe in kits - good people.
greetings, earthlings. take me to your dealer.

Hiya Uncle
I'm moving to the beaches! The kits of TO. I've eaten at the Fringe more than once. I bet West Broadway was mad with greek fans last night. Wish I could'a been there. Stupid work.

I guess the 2nd logo is better but like they said maybe you could play with it a bit more somehow.
How about having the words as a shadow that falls in the beam of a flashlight? (But perhaps don't show the flashlight itself)
I like your patterns website - the way you can turn the pages with the mouse is really good.
The text on your main website, on the homepage, is a little fuzzy, don't know why. Also maybe the intro a little long?
Also, maybe it's a really picky point, but flashlights don't make things shine, they light things up. At least that's the way I think of it, so maybe your tag line should be 'Lighting the way for the small business' or something?

Thanks for the feedback. I have such a hard time working on my own stuff. I agree that it does need some more fooling around with, but as luck would have it, I've suddenly gotten busy and haven't got a ton of time.
I've attached another version below. Thoughts?
Thanks also for the feeback on the site. That intro is too long...

the new one looks alive! very nice.
maybe the torchlight could be be smaller. on top of the word 'FLASH' maybe rather than 'FLASHL'.
or the FLASH word could be the torchlight itself.
but its nice anyway...

flashlight welcome to the forum. I'm going to move this to the Showcase section for you.
I like the second design the first one is great but doesn't fit your company image as well. I'm not really liking the glowing effect inside of the second one, I think it's a strong piece as is without the glow inside. If anything just reverse the type colors for FlashLight</font>

I like it, but I'm interested to see what it looks like if you put 'Flashlight' reversed out in white on top of the graphic. OR if you get rid of the 'i' in light and replace it with your graphic standing up. Also, maybe see if you can get anything cool without using a flashlight at all. Remember, you don't want to say and show the same thing. It's just not as interesting.

Thanks again for the feedback everyone. Very good point Holliday – don't show and say the same thing. It looks like I've got my plate full today, but I'll try to fool around with it a bit more tonight and post the update then.
