I'm trying to find the aiprefs file, i've done everything to find it, such as show hidden files, search for it, but i can't find it anywhere. I can't even find the application data folder... Can someone help me out?
Is there any other way to restoring default preferences?
Thanx :)

Mac or PC? To the best of my knowledge there isn't a way to reset to the default prefs without trashing the existing prefs.

This is a PC. The thing is, I'm trying to learn the basics from a book, and it explains me how to restore the default settings, so there should be a way?
I can't figure this out at all.. I can't even find a preference file...

The Mac has a keyboard combination you hold down to restore the default prefs. Does your book show one for PC? That way you don't have to go digging around for a file.

When I tried it, I didn't get an alert of any kind. I just knew it had reset them because some of the things I'd changed had been set back to the default. For example, I turn off the splash box that comes up with links to tutorials and such. After resetting, it, the splash box came back, and I had to turn it off again.

Try the Adobe forums for Illustrator for PC, you might find some help there.

Suggestion...why not just make a change to your preferences *now* (so that it modifies the file) and look for all files within the Illustrator folder modified between today's date and today's date
