hy everyone! i just found this site and i'm hoping there is someone willing to share his experience with me. the company i work in has bought a machine for foil stamping (YoungShin Revotec 1040 FS) and we work with paper only (90-400 grams). i got the honor (or, if you ask me, punishment) to work on that machine. nobody in the company knows how to do hot foil stamping, but everyone expects perfect results from me. so, if there is someone who could take me out of my misery, please help.

-what foil manufacturer is the best? we use Kurz foils, but i think there must be something better and less expensive.

-what temperature is to be used? i set it arround 105°c

-is it possible to get a good stamp (i think that's the word) with almost no pressure. what i mean is with very little pressure so to avoid embossing effect.

-when i make preparation for equalizing the lower plate, i use 0.04mm "Profitec patching tape" and put it under the plate in a pyramid style. i put epoxy glass (or sometimes pertinax) on the plate. is there a better/faster way or a better material to put on the plate?

-sometimes we use brass/bronze plates (matrix) and it's excellent, but more often we get magnesium (Mg) matrix. these are very sensitive and don't last long. with brass we get 250000-300000 sheets, but with magnesium we are happy to get 5000-10000 sheets. is there a way to avoid damaging or to fix already damaged matrix? i bought some thermo resistant paint and i can fix some small dots, but it's not so good 'cause i can't level it perfectly.

there are probably many more questions i should ask, but i can't think of any right now. if you think there is something else you could tell me, please do so. i will be very gratefull for any help i get.

P.S. sorry for my bad English, i'm from Croatia...

i'm not hot stamping expert, but i know almost all of our suppliers use Kurz foil.

yes, i've heard kurz foils are used very often, but there are other foils on the market. there's API foil, ITW foil... maybe it's better?
