After a year in print production I have decided I need to brush up on some of my design skills.

I am looking for a good book that deals with grid systems and layout. A book on Typography, I am looking for something current, any ideas?

Grid Systems : Principles of Organizing Type
Thinking with Type : A Critical Guide for Designers, Writers, Editors, & Students (Design Briefs) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1568984480/ref=pd_bxgy_text_b/102-0139229-0971370?ie=UTF8)

these are ones I was thinking of buying anyone know anything about them There are sooo many books out there its hard to know what ones have good content and which are just crap.

Thanks for the help!!!

Soccer37,
Right now I've just started working through "design basics index" by Jim Krause put out by How Design Books. It's subtitled "A graphic designer's guide to designing effective compositions, selecting dynamic components & developing creative concepts. It's small but beefy. It not only works through various concepts, it also gives nice examples and excercises as well. I picked it up at Borders for about 25 bones.
