Negitive space is it's own concept.

You get one point per decent post. Most of you are on one point.

More design elements:

- carbon (graphite)
- silicon (computer)
- hydrogen (bomb on stupid, visually illiterate, client's corporate headquarters)
- oxygen (creative control)
- boron (related to hardon, but restricted to corporate logo design)
- sodium (element used in creative process, as in... "So, dee... um... um. Yeah!")
- Argon (the element that often tempts weak designers into buying pirated software)
- Titanium (a base element which male designers use for inspiration through mispronunciation)
- Iron (used in creative process to inject slight cynicism about an objective, as in "Look at the irony boss.")
- Germanium (used to inject bauhausium stylings to a layout)
- Nickel (element commonly known as 'profit' for many freelancers)
- Zinc (element often confused with rarer element: Zwim)
- Arsenic (motivational element when fantasizing about impossible deadlines and client's coffee supply)
- Krypton (used to cut super-ego designers down to size)
- Rubidium (used by designer's peers to point out technical knowledge gap: also known as 'rubitinagin')
- Zirconium (a design element in the form of evil, tentacled alien robots)
- Molybdenum (design element found only in certain femal designer's pants)
- Indium (applied to schedules to accelerate the design process)
- Tin (found in covalent pairs to create strange graphic novels featuring arian teenage boy, little white dog, and a naval officer with Tourette's syndrome)
- Xenon (fantasy inducing element for male designer's with super heroine fetish)
- Cesium (element used to cancel dead end jobs)
- Barium (element used to process designer's expense claims to tax auditor)
- Samarium (element exchanged when a successful designer helps out a less fortunate one. "Here, try this." "Mmm... that's good samarium!")

Okay, just got some backtowurkium...

This just brightened my day. I just submitted the first round of a logo project to a client over the weekend, one of which I feel was really strong and on target and felt confident he'd be delighted.

He hated all of them, and sent me an email full of logos he wants me to emulate. All with beveled swoops, arrows, globes and stretched fonts.

Neat.

any 2 or more of: bevel, swoosh, comic sans, lens flare, twirl, & globe = solution to all design briefs

Examples:

Say your company manufactures computer hardware...You want to communicate hi-tech, sophistication, and value. You've been in business for 20 years and so really want to emphasise the integrity and reliability of your products...so what do you choose? the discerning designer would choose Globe and swoosh, problem solved

what about revitalising a company that wants to shake off it's reputation for being old and stuck in it's ways, wants to grab the younger audience, be more trendy if you like. What do you do? The answer is simple...lens flare, bevel and twirled elipse

Ah but what if you are designing for a distribution company that ships food produce all over the world, clearly globe is the wrong solution here, lens flare wouldn't help neither...a very tricky problem, fraught with danger. One wrong turn could spell disaster and assure failure for the company... but no problem! you choose comic sans and bevel, top job!

The list of examples can never end...in fact, you tell me the problem and I give the solution
